The film “Reagan,†which explores much of the life of former President Ronald Reagan, is scheduled for theatrical release around this nation of mostly blithering idiots on Aug. 30 — and we are curious to see if anyone even knows about it or bothers to go to see it, given the far-left’s domination of social media, universities and nearly every other aspect of our society, which is on the skids.
Of course, as we write this, the 2006 science-fiction comedy film “Idiocracy†(about a society governed or populated by idiots) springs to mind to describe most of today’s so-called influencers, teachers and “experts.â€
Even the very idea of such a film as “Reagan†about an influential political conservative who has been dead for 20 years has met opposition, especially from the social media giants.
As of this writing, Facebook and Instagram have sparked outrage from conservatives for banning “Reagan†movie ads for being “too political,†so “they can’t be advertised online,†the film’s producers told the New York Post in an Aug. 23 article.
Facebook even said it was “concerned our content could sway public opinion or the outcome of an election,†Eric McClellan, the “Reagan†movie’s digital marketing director, told the Post. “So if we can’t reach our audience through Facebook and Instagram, it’s a gross interference with our business and our ability to get our film out into public.â€
For those interested, author Rusty Wright wrote the following about the “Reagan†(which he watched early) in an Aug. 23 column in the Washington Examiner:
“Hailed by many as a history-altering savior responsible for communism’s decline and scorned by others as a clueless, intellectually unsophisticated actor out of touch with both common folks and the real world, Ronald Reagan made a lasting global impact. A new film explores the roots of his confidence, the relationships that nurtured it, and the revolution he inspired.â€
Wikipedia summarized “Reagan†as follows:
“The film follows Ronald Reagan’s life from his childhood to his years as president of the United States, told through a conversation between by a former KGB agent, Viktor Petrovich, and a young up-and-coming Russian politician, Andrei Novikov.â€
With such an imbalance of power fighting against the new film “Reagan,†it just might be worth the price of a ticket to see what all the fuss is about.
