HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Downtown Hendersonville will be the site of light displays, carriage rides, shopping and many other holiday-related events from now through December.
Among the holiday events listed by the City of Hendersonville are the following:
• Thanksgiving Farmers Market on Maple Street in the 7th Avenue Historic District from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22.
• Holiday Tree Lighting from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Historic Henderson County Courthouse on Main Street. Attendees will gather in the plaza in front of the HHCC to sing Christnas carols, sip hot cocoa and “watch for the man in red,” a promotion stated. At 5 p.m., the swing and Latin band Drayton & the Dreamboats will perform. “Once Santa arrives, he will flip the switch at 6 p.m. to illuminate the tree on the plaza and the lights along Main Street,” a promotion noted. Free carriage rides will begin immediately after the tree-lighting.
• The annual Hendersonville Christmas Parade will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 6. The “Light Up the Night-”theme parade — beginning in the 5 Points area (near Hendersonville High School) — will proceed south along Main Street, and finish at the intersection of Kanuga and Caswell streets.
