Monday, 20 October 2025 06:22

From Staff Reports

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Former North Carolina GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn announced on Oct. 1 another bid for Congress, but this time for the state of Florida.

“After Charlie Kirk’s assassination, I knew that there was really no option,” Cawthorn told Fox News Digital. “I want to make sure [the people of Florida] have amazing representation in Washington, D.C., because I know exactly what happens in the swamp.”

From 2021 to 2023, Cawthorn was the youngest member of Congress elected to office and represented the 11th District of North Carolina, covering most of Western North Carolina.

He is now running to represent Florida’s 19th district, which is currently represented by GOP Rep. Byron Donalds, who is running for governor.

Cawthorn’s one term ended with a number of controversies, such as a charge for driving with a suspended license and Sen. Thom Tillis alleging the young representative had violated insider trading laws.
