Who will win midterm elections on Nov. 8?

In North Carolina, the statewide general election will be held on Nov. 8. The election is also known as the “midterm,” as it is held two years (midway) into the four-year U.S. presidential term. 

On Election Day, polls in North Carolina will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those who vote on Election Day must go to their assigned polling place. 

Among the races on the ballot are: 

 

U.S. Senate seat 

• Cheri Beasley (Democratic Party)

• Ted Budd (Republican Party)

• Matthew Hoh (Green Party)

• Shannon Bray (Libertarian Party)

• Michelle Lewis (Independent, write-in)

U.S. House seat — N.C. District 11

• Jasmine Beach-Ferrara (Democratic Party)

• Chuck Edwards (Republican Party)

• David Coatney (Libertarian Party)

 

N.C. District 49

• Julie Mayfield (Democratic Party)

• John Anderson (Republican Party)

 

N.C. District 114

• John Ager (Democratic Party)

• Everett Pittillo (Republican Party)

 

N.C. District 115

• Lindsey Prather (Democratic Party)

Two Buncombe County bond issues

• Bond issue No. 1 — Approve $30 million in borrowing to conserve open space and create greenways, which would cost typical households a maximum of $14 a year for 20 years.

• Bond issue No. 2 — Approve $40 million for affordable housing work, which would cost typical households a maximum of $18 a year for 20 years.
