HENDERSONVLLE — State Sen. Chuck Edwards, a Republican, beat his Democratic challenger Brian Caskey to win a third term on Nov. 3. Edwards has served since 2016.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Edwards received 67,805 votes (59 percent) to Caskey’s 47,305 votes (41 percent).
Edwards, 60, is the owner of seven McDonald’s franchises in Henderson and Buncombe counties. He and his wife Teresa have two children and live in Flat Rock.
Caskey, 49, a menber of Mills River Town Council, also is the town’s mayor pro tem. He and his wife Stacey are co-owners of Biltmore Tutoring. They have two daughters.
“With the election now behind us I am enthusiastic to get back to Ralegh to help get our state back on track,†Edwards was quoted as saying by the Hendersonville Lightning. “Whether you voted for me or not, it is my hope to work with you — and for you — to rebuild our economy, invest in the future of our children, protect your hard earned money, and keep our citizens safe.â€
In the race for N.C. House of Representatives District 117, Republican Tim Moffitt won with 28,912 votes (61 percent), topping his Democratic challenger Josh Remillard, who collected 18,757 votes (39 percent).
When Chuck McGrady resigned from his District 117 post in Octber, Moffitt was chosen to fill his seat. Moffitt, a businessman and manger of an executive search and management consulting firm, previously represented District 116 in 2011-2014.
