Town’s Amazon delivery station opened Sept. 23 with 60 new jobs

MILLS RIVER — Lowe’s announced in late September that it will be building a distribution center on about 10 acres at 342 Banner Farm Road, near Mills River Brewing Co., in Mills River.
“Construction is expected to be complete in the late summer or early fall of 2021,†the Hendersonville TImes-News reported on Sept. 27.
The building will encompass 90,720 square feet, with 56 car parking spaces and 31 trailer spaces.
Lowe’s website noted that a “wide variety of job opportunities†are available in Lowe’s distribution centers, ranging from hourly roles to management positions to maintenance and engineering roles.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated business development, Amazon announced that its 110,000-square-foot delivery station in Mills River, which is expected to employ hundreds of local people, began operations on Sept. 23.
A press release stated that the delivery station “has already created more than 60 new full-time jobs paying at least $15 per hour, with comprehensive benefits packages starting on day one.â€
