Shots to treat for possible hepatitis A exposure are being recommended for patrons who dined between Aug. 17 and last Friday at Trevi Pasta, Seafood & Pizza restaurant.
The recommendation for the shots was made by the
Buncombe County Health Department last Monday after it confirmed two
cases of hepatitis A, one of which involved an employee at the popular
Biltmore Village eatery. The employee no longer is working at Treviës,
health officials noted.
The Health Center at 35 Woodfin St. is offering free immune globulin
shots from 3 to 7 p.m. today to those who dined at Treviës during the
aforementioned period.
The serum, which can prevent or reduce symptoms of hepatitis A, must be
administered within two weeks after exposure, health officials stressed.
The restaurant which has consistently rated Grade A in sanitation, reportedly is fully cooperating with the health department.
Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver caused by an orally transferred virus.
