NEWBERRY, S.C. — The holiday show “Holly Dolly Christmas†— paying tribute to a 2020 television special featuring Dolly Parton — will be performed from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Newberry Opera House, 1201 McKibben St., here.
The show will feature Katie Deal (in the role of Parton) celebrating “the spirit of Dolly and her music for the holiday season, including Dolly’s Christmas tunes and hit duets,†a promotion noted.
Deal, a Gainesville, Ga., native, has earned critical acclaim for her classic country sound. She has been called “Pure Patsy†by the Columbus (Ohio)Free Press for her portrayal of Patsy Cline. She has toured internationally with her one-woman show, ‘Today, Tomorrow and Forever: A Tribute to Patsy Cline,’ and starred in two sold-out national tours of ‘A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline.’
“She has had the honor of performing at the legendary Carter Fold numerous times, has sung with Ms. Loretta Lynn, and has opened for country greats Bill Anderson, Jeannie Seely, T.G. Sheppard, B.J. Thomas, John Conlee, Sammi Kershaw and Collin Raye.
“Katie and her band were the musical entertainment for the Georgia Public Broadcasting Gala, honoring Georgia native Brenda Lee and the Georgia preview of Ken Burns’ ‘Country Music’ documentary.
