WALHALLA, S.C. — The Stranger band will perform a musical salute to Billy Joel at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Walhalla Performing Arts Center, 101 East North Broad Street, here.  

“The Stranger is the complete premiere tribute to the music of one of the world’s most beloved performers —Billy Joel,” a promotion stated. 

“Comprised of some of the best and most-experienced musicians in the business, this six-piece band brings together an authentic replication of Billy’s timeless music, crowning it with soulful, spot-on vocals that makes listening to a Billy Joel song so special.”

As for the significance of Joel’s songs, his website states that, throughout the years, Joel’s songs have acted as personal and cultural touchstones for millions of people, mirroring his own goal of writing songs that “meant something during the time in which I lived … and transcended that time.”
