‘A Chorus Line,’ billed as ‘one singular sensation,’ to light up the stage through Sept. 1 at Mauldin

MAULDIN, S.C. —  The Mauldin Theatre Company will perform its production of the Broadway classic musical, “A Chorus Line.” at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 in the Mauldin Cultural Center, 101 East Butler Road, here.

Performances also will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 30-31; and at 3 p.m. Sept. 1. 

“It’s one singular sensation!” a promotion stated. “‘A Chorus Line’ is a stunning concept musical capturing the spirit and tension of a Broadway ensemble audition. 

“Exploring the inner lives and bittersweet ambitions of professional Broadway performers, the show features one powerhouse number after another. 

“A brilliantly complex fusion of song, dance and compellingly authentic drama, ‘A Chorus Line’ was instantly recognized as a classic.” 

What’s more, “A Chorus Line” held 6,137 performances before closing on April 28, 1990, making it the longest-running musical in Broadway history, until surpassed by “‘Cats’ in 1997,” according to Wikipedia.

It also was the longest-running Broadway musical originally produced in the U.S., until surpassed in 2011 by the revival of “Chicago,” Wikipedia noted, adding that “A Chorus Line”  remains the seventh longest-running Broadway show.
