MAULDIN, S.C.  — The Mighty Kicks! band will perform in concert from 6:30 to 9 p.m. May 31 in the amphitheater, Mauldin Cultural Center, 101 City Center Drive, here

 The show, featuring music for listening and/or dancing, is part of the city’s annual Amp’d Up Fridays outdoor concert series. 

The Orangeburg-based group says of itself on Facebook that, “with its non-stop choreography, non-stop music and non-stop energy, The Mighty Kicks! are South Carolina’s ‘No. 1 party band.’” 

Another promotion added, “One of the most sought-after bands in South Carolina... These guys combine great talent and music that will knock your socks off...  Beach music, Motown, soul, party music....” 

In a Facebook posting, fan Irene Sanders wrote the following about the Mighty Kicks!:

“Great band. Superstar performances. Their music crosses all cultures and types of events that are respectful.

“Very gifted. Professional singers, guitar players, drum player, and manager , the William Blume Agency. 

“They include audience participation... Show a lot of love to everyone. They are my heart. Love them to death. Can’t get enough of them.  Wish I could be at all their performances. ....”

According to the band’s history, “The Mighty Kicks! began in 1986, when a group of friends from Orangeburg, S.C., started an air band, the rage at the time, and proceeded to win contests across the region. They were all musicians, and eventually started a ‘real’ band, calling it the Kicks” — and later, the Mighty Kicks!

“The Mighty Kicks! have earned their place among the top echelon of entertainment in the Southeast and beyond. Known as the hardest working band in show-business....” a promotion stated.

Food trucks will be on premises. Attendees are urged to bring lawnchairs and/or blankets.
