MAULDIN, S.C. — “In the Mood: A Big Band Musical Review†will be performed on Fridays through Sundays Aug. 6-15 in the Mauldin Cultural Center at 101 E. Butler Road.
Mauldin is located near Greenville in the Upstate’s so-called “Golden Strip†— a booming corridor — that also includes the nearby cities of Simpsonville and Fountain Inn, as well as the Census Designated Place of Five Forks. It is about a 90-minute drive from Asheville.
Regarding the show, the MCC stated, “Take a trip down memory lane to that golden era of big band hits from the ‘30s and ‘40s. Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and more of your favorites will be featured in this live concert-style show.
“Complete with a swinging live band and full cast of singers and performers, this is sure to be a night to remember,†an event promotion added.
The song “In the Mood,†made famous by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, often is introduced as the national anthem of swing music and dance.
The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6, 7, 13 and 14; and at 3 p.m. Aug. 7, 8, 14 and 15. For tickets, which are $15 each, visit www.onthestage.tickets.
