From tango to swing, lively tunes lead to hot time on a rainy night

Despite a pouring rain, with danger of flooding in the area, the crowd of tango and swing dancers still showed up on the night of Nov. 30 to dance at the Grove House Entertainment Complex in downtown Asheville. Downstairs, the duo, The Just Desserts (top left), played music to which more than a dozen people danced the Argentine Tango, hosted by the Tangogypsies. Among the tango dancers were (above right) Marque Gritta of Asheville and Tangogypsies chief Karen Jaffe of Fairview. Meanwhile, downstairs, another dozen of so people danced to the swing-jazz music of One Leg Up (left) of Asheville. The band members (from left) are Steve Trisman, violin; John Stineman, guitar; Zack Paige, bass; and Jim Tanner, guitar.
