Argentina-airport.jpg Argentine federal police patrol Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires last Monday, two days after angry passengers frustrated by two days of cancelled flights jumped over ticket counters, smashed computers, assaulted airport personnel and stormed airline offices. Some 5,000 passengers were stranded at Ezeiza, Argentina’s main airport. Aerolineas Argentinas, the state airline, has been suffering flight cancellations for months. Corporate spokespersons blamed the delays on labor walkouts by baggage handlers and ticket-counter workers, but union officials attributed the disruptions to overbooked flights. The violence Saturday forced other airlines, including American Airlines, to suspend flights temporarily as well. However, flights had resumed Monday. EFE/Cézaro De Luca
