WEAVERVILLE ó Three newcomers were sworn in as members of Weaverville Town Council on Nov. 19.
Doug Jackson, Walter Currie and Gene Knoefel were all sworn in and sat down for their first session of council.
Among the first actions taken by the newly composed council was the approval of lot subdivisions on Leisure Mountain, as requested by property owner John Maltry.
The property is located in the townís extra-territorial jurisdiction ó
the area just outside the townís borders, over which Weaverville
matintains some zoning authority.
However, it is also part of the townís agreement with the Town of Woodfin that Woodfin has the right to annex the property.
In other action, council:
ï Appointed Bob Beu to the Planning and Zoning Board to replace Knoefel.
ï Appointed Currie as the council liason to the Land of Sky Regional Council.
ï Approved a budget amendment that allowed the town to move $54,000
from last yearís budget to this yearís budget to cover the costs of a
water and sewer extension.
