Letters to the Editor: Did late Daily Planet columnist suffer ‘retaliation’ for speculating that we live in a ‘Matrix?’ reader queries
Wednesday, 06 December 2023 18:39

Dave Evans was a popular Daily Planet columnist who dropped dead without warning a couple of years ago, shocking his readers!

But before his death Dave Evans wrote a column for the Oct. 15-31, 2021 issue of the Daily Planet that was headlined, “The great awakening follows sense that... something is terribly wrong” — that we are living inside of video game, and that the plot of the video game is that totalitarianism is descending on the inhabitants of the video game!

Elon Musk is thoroughly convinced that we are indeed living inside of a video game — and that inside of the video game, totalitarianism is descending on the inhabitants.

That is why Elon Musk started to try to develop technology to attempt to break us out of the video game. But Musk gave up the project because if they wanted to, the gamers could delete Musk from the game and from existence — or upload Musk into a hellish game!

So Musk chickened out, trying to develop technology to attempt to break us out of the game.

But the point of this letter is that the late Daily Planet columnist Dave Evans might have been right in his speculative Daily Planet column published in the Oct. 15-31, 2021 issue of the paper — about us possibly being trapped inside a video game, where totalitarianism is descending on the inhabitants of the game!

Maybe that’s why Dave Evans dropped dead — unexpectedly?

Maybe that was retaliation from the gamers for giving away their secret that we are trapped inside a “Matrix”-like video game world!

If we are trapped inside of a video game, this means we all are in this together.

So we should band together like a “band of brothers” — and stop being mean to Jews and gays!!!

Bewildering U.S. policies, actions questioned

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following letter to the editor was received by the Daily Planet on Nov. 28.

•

Today’s question is: If he (Joe Biden) is such a wonderful president, why haven’t any American hostages been released?

Why have there been 168 attacks on the American military?

Are these not acts of war?

Why are we funding both Israel and Iran?

Is that not an oxymoron?

Duh... am I missing something here?

Perhaps someone could explain to me — using (American actor and film producer) Denzel Washington’s words — “like I am a seven-year-old.”

Bill Press column ripping new House speaker triggers Christian response

A Christian response to “Danger! MAGA Mike’s got his Bible out!,’ written by (syndicated columnist) Bill Press, is written to your readers so they may assess whether or not there is an actual danger.

Congressman Mike Johnson (R-La.), claims to have the Bible as the framework of his worldview.

This claim would include the following from the King James Version of the Bible taken from Romans chapter 12, verses 14-18:

“Bless them which perscute you; bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth with you, live peaceably with all men.”

If this is the standard for Congressman Johnson’s behavior in Congress, then we all should benefit.

An ‘open letter’ to Pastor Parrishabout the $310K he raised for Israel

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following “open letter” — submitted for publication as a letter to the editor — is addressed to Senior Pastor Winston Parrish of Trinity Baptist Church in West Asheville. The letter follows the appearance of a story headlined “Trinity Baptist Church effort to aid Israel nets $310K; triggers threats” in the Nov. 22-Dec. 5 edition of the Daily Planet.•

To Pastor Winston Parish:

KJV Prov. 18:17 — “He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbor cometh and searcheth him.”

You and your kind are an abomination unto the Lord. You neither have the eyes to see, nor the ears to hear.

The crying out and dying in the streets. Broken and lost souls, needing a lift or an encouraging word. Hungry, abused and unsheltered lives, shattered, in need of repair.  The ones’ Jesus opens his arms to — are the souls, you don’t want to see or hear.

You talk of standing with your Jewish friends. I ask: How many have you converted to Christianity?

Not any, huh?

James 1:8 says: “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” Think about it, as you gaze upon the golden calf....

“I probably wouldn’t of wrote this, if the Red Cross, the United Nations — and all the others — were here, taking care of our wounded in the streets.

But, they are not — you and your kind are.

Prov. 21;16 says: “The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.”

So when you bow down to the six-pointed star and give up your salvation, I want you to remember: Those you walked over to get there....

P.S. — Genocide Joe (Biden) said it right, after the Deep State stole the (2020 presidential) election for him: “We’re in a fight for the soul of the nation.”

There is a war raging at your very doorstep. And you are asleep at the pulpit. You’re like Jake, my rooster, all puffed up, and abusing his flock....

Seems money flows in the mountains — when Jesus’ mission is kept out of it.

Like the millions raised to fix the cracked floor and such at the basilica (the Basilica of St. Lawrence in downtown Asheville). I can only hope I’m still around to see it. Quaked down to the foundation, for, I know, my God speaks loud and clear.

I liken preachers like you to Billy Graham — speaking of Jesus and asking a rabbi if he did a good job.

Or acting like Franklin (Graham) on a photo shoot, with his clean T-shirt brigade, filling his coffers and going back to his Daddy’s (Billy Graham’s) sanctuary. I always thought such a place would heal a lot of souls. But, the real people in need are not welcome... It’s a business, don’t ya see....

Just like Israel being warned by Egypt, three days ahead of the (Oct. 7) attack. Filling coffers and coffins, it’s just a business, don’t cha see....

Prov. 18:21 — “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Amen!

Money misspent for wars? Better to spend on our needs

I am sick of all these wars

.I am sorry for the people of Gaza and Ukraine.

Putin and Netanyahu are both war criminals in my book. They both are indiscriminately slaughtering civilians and bombing homes, apartment complexes, houses of worship, schools and hospitals.

We Americans are footing the bill for these wars and when it is time to rebuild the infrastructure in these war-torn countries, the American taxpayers will pay the tab.

We must make Israel and Ukraine sign a promissory note agreeing to pay us the billions and billions of dollars we are lending them.

Also, another area of concern I must relay — stop wasting money on the Mars program.

Mars is a fool's errand! Use the funds allocated for Mars and build decent efficiency apartments for the homeless and start paying poor people a stipend of $25,000 per annum, as long as they are not breaking the law.

For poor blacks, browns and whites, the American dream has been denied and we owe them compensation in the form of free four-year college, or an equivalent in a trade school.
