Letters to the Editor: 1981 lyrics to '867-5309/Jenny' tweaked by reader in jab at GOP
Friday, 16 September 2022 16:18

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following letter to the editor, self-titled “867-5309 / Ginni” by its author, was submitted to the Daily Planet with a note that its lyrics are intended to be “sung to the tune of “867-5309 / Jenny’ by Tommy Tutone, released in 1981.”

Hey Ginni, Ginni, who can I turn to?

You give me something I can hold on to

I know you think I’m like Mark Meadows

Who saw your texts and didn’t care at all.

Ginni, I’ve got your number

It’s insurrection time

Ginni, don’t change your number

867-5309.

Ginni, Ginni, you’re the girl for me

You’re a neo-Nazi, but you make me so happy

I tried to text you before, but I lost my nerve

I watched Fox Nation, and I was disturbed.

Ginni, I’ve got your number

It’s insurrection time

Ginni, don’t change your number

867-5309.

I got it, I  got it, we’re going to Capitol Hill, y’all

I got it, I got it, for a good time whiz in the hall.

Ginni, don’t change your number

It’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” time

Ginni, I’ll text your number

867-5309.

Ginni, Ginni, who can Uncle Thomas turn to?

867-5309

Coke Can Clarence will (expletive deleted) you

867-5309.

The time has come today to end one-party system that rules Asheville

I couldn’t agree more with Chris Peterson’s ads in the Asheville Daily Planet.

I am sure that there must be many who agree that the Asheville uni-party activists who occupy local government offices need to be sent to their rooms without supper.

I may have agreed with their socialist ideals while crying along with other theater-goers at the premiere of “Billy Jack” in high school.

Unlike our so-called leaders, though, I grew up.

Yes, I would certainly agree that the world now needs love, sweet love.

As the adults in the room, though, we are the ones who need to work at injecting some common sense and mature thinking into our government.

Most, if not all, of the stooges in local government do need to be thrown out onto the streets to fend for themselves against the criminals and the mentally ill street- roamers they coddle.

Sadly, the adults are unwilling to step up and help introduce the needed corrections. Where are they? Why do we allow left-wing activists to control everything in Buncombe County? Are we afraid of them, or are we just lazy?

Hand-wringing complacency will accomplish nothing but ensure we continue down the path to socialist ruin and decay.

Yes, we need to vote “Esther With An Attitude” out of office.

Sadly, that could lead to possibly even greater destruction at the hands of police-hating, abortion-loving, homeless-coddling Kim Roney.

Roney is the pick of the Asheville chapter of Democratic Socialists of America.

If city-dwellers decide not to vote for Esther, who can they vote for instead? Comrade Kim?

We aren’t exactly primed for success here, and the November elections are only two months away. Adults need to flood the polls.

Should they be encouraged to write in the name of brave Republican mayoral candidate Cliff Feingold?

Or would that siphon votes away from Esther and lead to a landslide for Comrade Roney? Would Dr. Feingold even be open to that?

None of those in power today care about conservative and moderate values.

They have the power, and (by golly!) they intend to use it to construct Utopia — no matter what you think of that. They do not — and will not — represent my values.

Should we tremble as we wonder, “Who will save us?”

Or do we need to roll up our sleeves and show them how it should be done?

They have shown us that they do not know what they are doing.Unless adults step up and assert our control, the idealists will continue their misguided efforts to spend every bit of our money on all the wrong things.

Hugh Hewitt called a ‘thug;” ripped for flaying Southerners

A supporter of murdering, plundering, raping, sacking and burning thugs of (Abraham) Lincoln’s army, one Hugh Hewitt (a radio talk show host) would go to YouTube and make the statement that military bases named for treasonous people should be renamed, pushing the lie that the honorable and patriotic men of the Confederate armed forces were treasonous people — when there was not one ever tried for treason.

In fact, under the Declaration of Independence and the 10th Amendment of the Constitution, secession was legal.

Places like YouTube freely give thugs like Hewitt a platform to spit out his lies, while forever using Southern black folk as the weapon of choice to justify the slander.

Does he (Hewitt) expect the Southern people to remain in an unbalanced, dangerous and damaging “union” enduring continual abuse from greedy from Northern interests?

No one — to include Hewitt— can look in the mirror and not see the son of a former slave, or the son of a former slave-owner… the whole world has been complicit in the international institution of slavery. And even now, damn Yankee-haters are allowing their children to discredit the name, memory and accolades presented to the Honorable President Thomas Jefferson; an American statesman, diplomat, lawyer, architect, philosopher and Founding Father, who served as the third president from 1801 to 1809.

He (Jefferson) was previously the second vice president under John Adams and the first United States secretary of state under George Washington.

The principal author of the Declaration of Independence ( 1776), he (Jefferson) wrote a bill establishing religious freedom enacted in 1786. He opposed a strong centralized government and championed the rights of states.

And not to forget,  he was born in Virginia. All this… Jefferson was just TOO Southern (according to his critics of today) — he MUST be cancelled! And let us not forget the 31st Infantry (Dixie Division), which was part of the United States National Guard active almost continuously from 1917 to 1968.

In almost 100 years of service, the 31st Infantry regiment played a role in every major conflict and military operation, proudly displaying the Confederate battle flag, either on their regalia or flying. Alabama elements were federalized to ensure school integration during 1963 and to keep order during the Selma to Montgomery marches of 1965.

Poverty pimps and Reconstruction-minded haters — like the mayors of Enfield, N.C., and New Orleans, La. — who care nothing about the rule of law or breaking it, do a great disservice to the honorable people they claim to represent and to their place of honor earned beside a man they not only called “master,” but also family and friend before, during and after the War for Southern Independence.

Hewitt and the rest be damned for their libel. God bless you!

For sure, Biden ranks as the worst president in U.S. history

Finally, a concise summary of the worst president ever — amid the demands for the FBI to explain their involvement with suppressing the Hunter Biden  laptop — surfacing in news such as Newsweek.

Currently you can see the immigration tags that question today added loopholes to enter our nation, including the most recent change in entry having any tangent connection loose or broad to terrorism.

Then there’s the immigration bus drop-off debacles, as states suddenly have visibility in their front yards of a glimmer of the influx border states have been imploded with.

Has our border crisis improved?

How about our nation’s security as Democrats begin their one-eighty on defunding police, one-eighty on suddenly —  after 18 months — visiting our borders, unlike our president.

Why are student loans or COVID-19 rent aid given payouts — and  repeat funding at that, but not payoff for folks’ mortgages or their work-truck loans?

All I see is the usual rampant flipflops and dereliction of duty, as we still wait to hear all about “the big guy” in (Hunter Biden’s) emails!

Let’s stop votes by elderly being cast fradulently

If you have a family member that is a patient/resident and resides in a hospital, clinic, nursing home, assisted living facility or rest home, be on guard: their vote may be fraudulently cast for them.

Often elderly individuals are coerced into casting their ballot.

Even if they are mentally incompetent, their absentee ballot may be cast for them without their awareness or consent.

They fall victim and prey to those that are corrupt in endeavor and deed.

According to a recent decision by a judge, a disabled absentee voter may receive assistance from any person they choose.

This includes the staff of the hospital, clinic, nursing home, or rest home where they are a patient/resident. They may also receive assistance from an elected official, political party officeholder, or candidate. Ultimately, this opens the door for our most vulnerable voters to have their vote fraudulently cast for them.

Please alert the clinical staff of your opposition to this practice, and under no circumstances is anyone to complete a ballot for your family member without authorized consent by the resident’s power of attorney. Never allow someone else to take away their right to vote as a United States Citizen… and an American.
