TRYON, N.C. —  The Fabulous Stairwells, a local doo-wop group, will perform in an outdoor concert from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 10 on St. Luke’s Plaza, 62 North Trade Street, here.

The Fabulous Stairwells quartet is billed as “a popular Henderson County-based doo-wop vocal ensemble known for bringing energetic four-part harmonies, classic romance, and high-energy fun to Western North Carolina.

“The group covers beloved mid-century hits, old-school (Carolina) beach music, and classic doo-wop tracks. They frequently perform live around local spots like J&M Farms on Chimney Rock Road, local street festivals, and downtown plazas across the region.”

Historically, the Platters are widely considered the greatest and most successful doo-wop group of all time, although critical consensus also frequently honors groups like The Flamingos, The Five Satins, and Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers.

Among the top doo-wop hits are ”I Only Have Eyes for You,” ”Why Do Fools Fall in Love?” ”Earth Angel,” ”Come Go with Me,” ”Sixteen Candles” and ”Blue Moon.”

The Fabulous Stairwells’ Tryon show is free.
