APD reopens its lobby after 6-month closure
Monday, 15 November 2021 11:23

From Staff Reports

The Asheville Police Department Headquarters lobby, located at 100 Court Plaza in downtown Asheville, has officially reopened to the public, the APD recently announced.

A spokesperson for the APD said the lobby had been closed since May 1 — or about six months ago — due to “the number of vacancies of police information desk staff.”

“We have been able to re-open due to those desk staff vacancies being filled by two, Pre-Basic Law Enforcement cadets and a part-time retired officer,” the APD said in a news release.

Lobby hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding city holidays.

Residents can continue calling 259-5870 to make reports for non-emergencies during business hours, or use the online reporting system.

Those who have an emergency — or a crime is in progress — are encouraged to call 911, the APD release pointed out.
