Police Blotter: 11-25-2008

UNCA Campus Police recently reported  the following incidents:

• Timothy Aaron Fisher, 19, of Lake Toxaway was charged at 5:50 p.m. Nov. 22 for failing to stop for a stop sign on University Heights at Edgewood Road. Fisher was driving a 1980 Yamaha motorcyle.

• Elizabeth Shalamar Opal Blevins, 20, a UNCA student from Crumpler, reported receiving a threatening call on her cellphone at 8:50 p.m. Nov. 20 at Carol Belk Theater at 1 Theater Lane. Police noted that they are investigating the case.

• Gary Grubbs of Governors Hall reported vandalism damage at 11:45 p.m. Nov. 21 at Highsmith University Union.

• Vandalism involving the use of a sharp object to scratch words into glass was found at 6:03 p.m. Nov. 22 at Highsmith University Union.


 

• Vandalism to property was found behind a building in an alley on Founders Drive at 3:10 a.m. Nov. 24.

• Joshua Daniel Martier, 24, a UNCA commuter student from Southern Shores, reported the larceny of his computer from Ramsey Library at 5:50 p.m. Nov. 17. Martier’s Apple MacBook computer with software was valued at $3,000. The serial number is RM83206S15g. Reportedly, someone “picked up the computer and walked away,” according to the police report.

• Larcenies — valued at $100 each — from two coin-operated machines was found at 1:35 p.m. Nov. 16 at Owen Hall. Entry was gained by prying open the machines, police noted.

• Gary Grubbs reported vandalism in a men’s restroom at Highsmith University Union at 1:50 p.m. Nov. 12. Damages includes $300 to a large mirror and $100 to a towel dispenser.

• Scott Michael Arritt, a UNCA student, reported receiving harassing phone calls at 4:16 p.m. Nov. 8 at Vance Hall.

• Vandalism — valued at $100 — to an automobile was discovered at 8:52 a.m. Nov. 7 at the University Hall Parking Deck. “Someone used paint to write words on the vehicle,” police reported.

• Vandalism — valued at $100 — involving the scratching of words into glass was found at 8:21 a.m. Nov. 7 at Governors Hall.

• Vandalism ­ — valued at $250 — involving the use of a sharp object to scratch a window was found at 8:04 a.m. Nov. 7 at Founders Hall. Police noted that entry to the building was forcible.

• Vandalism — valued at $100 — involving the use of a black Magic Marker to draw “XXX!!!” on the back of one of UNCA’s electric cars was reported at 12:52 a.m. Nov. 3 at Vance Hall.
