DURHAM ?? Asheville High triumphed over Western Alamance 13-10 last Saturday at Wallace Wade to take its first state football championship since 1922
A game-clinching interception by quarterback Crezdon Butler with 2:44 left on the clock secured the win for the undefeated Cougars (15-0).
The Warriors led until the last 10:56 Saturday, when Butler completed two passes to sophomore reciever Rakheem Morgan to give the Cougars their win.
After the victory, Butler was named most valuable player of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A final.
