BREVARD ÇƒÓ Brevard College football coach Bobby Poss resigned his post last Wednesday morning, but rescinded the decision that afternoon.
Poss, an Asheville resident, had met with BC president Drew Van Horn and athletic director Tom Collins that morning and resigned.
However, at midday he decided to return to his position largely because "the college reinforced its commitment to building and reinforcing a football program."
Poss
recently finished his first season at BC, which fielded its first
football team since 1950. The Tornados finished 2-6, with a two-game
winning streak.
Poss said
launching the program, recruiting players and hiring coaches had
exhausted him and he had doubted he could do the job and treat his
players fairly.
However, BC
officials gave him permission to hire two full-time assistants in
addition to replacing defensive coordinator Mike Houston, who on Nov.
28 accepted an assistantës job at Lenoir-Rhyne College.
Poss also said
the schoolës booster club has committed to raising $100,000 for a
weight room. In addition, his team will be allowed to use two on-campus
practice fields next season. The team practiced off-campus this past
season.
