WINSTON-SALEM ?? No. 8-ranked Wake Forest (18) placed five players in double figures to outlast UNC Asheville 79-63 in front of a sell-out crowd of 14,665 at Joel Coliseum on Nov. 14.
The Bulldogs (0-2) battled for 40 minutes and led twice in the first half before the Demon Deacons improved their record to 4-1.
Asheville was led by Joseph Barber, with a game-high 17 points. Oliver Holmes added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Wake Forest led for most of the first half before the Bulldogs got a
three-pointer from Brett Warner to lead 19-18 midway through the half.
The Deacons led 30-27 before ending the half on an 8-2 run. Asheville
had four of its starters on the bench with two fouls each late in the
half. Wake Forest led 38-29 at halftime. The Deacons were 14-of-20 from
the foul line in the first half, while the Bulldogs did not make any
visits to the line.
