Tuesday, 08 July 2008 16:49

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The opener to an eight-game road trip was postponed July 7 by rain, and the Asheville Tourists will have to wait one more day to try and extend their six-game winning streak.

The game was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 p.m. July 8 from Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown. The Tourists (56-31) and the Hagerstown Suns only play each other in one four-game series this season.

Through July 7, Asheville has compiled a 16-9 record against Northern Division teams this season, but has yet to face the first-half champion Lake County Captains. The Tourists will travel to Lake County following the four game series against the Suns in Hagerstown.

After a mediocre month of July, Asheville has regained their early season dominance coming off a four-game sweep of the Rome Braves with crowds of more than 4,000 fans for two fireworks shows on July 4th and 5th.
