An injury forced former Roberson High star Cameron Maybin to miss the Major League Baseball All-Star Futures Game this past Sunday.
Maybe, who underwent a magnetic resonance imaging for his injured shoulder last Thursday, learned that he likely will be able to return to action in less than a month.
Nonetheless, Maybin still was allowed to make the trip to the game and participate in the festivities.
Maybin, who is batting .303 with 38 RBIs and eight home runs, plays for the Detroit Tigersí High-A affiliate in Lakeland, Fla.
He was examined by Stephen Lemos, team physician for the Tigers in Detroit. Maybin was diagnosed with a subluxation of the right shoulder and will take part in an exercise and conditioning program over the next two weeks, the Tigers announced.
Maybin suffered the injuring diving for a fly ball in the first inning of a July 2 game against Fort Myers. He was the only player from last yearís United States squad invited back to this yearís Futures Game.
