5K Firecracker Run set this morning in Brevard

BREVARD รณ The 12th Annual 5K Firecracker Run and Run Through the Mountains will be held at 8 this morning.

Following the race, Brevard will hold its annual all-day Fourth of July celebration, which will center around a street festival featuring food and entertainment, topped off with a fireworks display at dusk.

The 3.1-mile race will start and end on South Broad Street, near the Cardinal Drive-In and the new Transylvania County Library. The course will loop through the streets of Brevard.

The top three male and female finishers in all age categories will receive awards in the event, which is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Brevard, the Brevard Rotary Foundation and the community of Brevard. The race benefits the Brevard Rotary Foundation and its associated charitable events.

There is no minimum age for participants, although those under age 18 must have an accompanying adult sign the waiver form at the time of registration.
