LYNCHBURG, Va. ÇƒÓ Liberty University grabbed an early lead and withstood some second-half rallies by UNC Asheville to win 80-65 in Big South Conference menës basketball on Jan. 30 at the Vines Center.
UNCA (7-15, 3-5) was led by junior guard K.J. Garland, who scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 5-of-8 on 3-pointers. Also chipping in for the Bulldogs was Bryan Smithson, who netted 16 points.
Liberty
(10-12, 4-4), which won its third straight game, finished with four
players in double figures. Leading the Flames were Dwight Brewington
with 16 points; and Larry Blair, 15 points. Blair become the third
player in BSC history to surpass the 2,000-point mark.
