NEWTON, N.C. — A Holiday Night With Legends: The Classic Drifters and The Coasters” — with special gusts The Platters — will provide a musical salute to the iconic rhythm and blues vocal groups in two shows — 3 and 7:30 p.m. — Dec. 13 in the Newton Performing Arts Center, 60 W. 6th St., here.

Among The Drifters’ biggest-selling hits are “Up on the Roof.” “Under the Boardwalk,” “This Magic Moment,” “There Goes My Baby,” “Dance with Me,” “Spanish Harlem” and “I Count the Tears.”
The Drifters’ classic, “Under The Boardwalk” (released in June 1964), is the most-played rhythm and blues record of all time.
