GREENVILLE, S.C. — “The Downtown Batman” — who lists his pronouns as “he/him,” bills himself as a “real-life superhero, helping the homeless and fighting for human rights since 2021” — is in his second year of patrolling the streets of his city, mostly at night.

Speaking politically, in a Reddit posting from eight months ago, “The Downtown Batman” (whose real name is Kevin Conroy) noted, “Currently, my only enemies are capitalism and its consequences for society. I don’t need any more enemies than that, thank you.”

In a Linktree posting, he stated, “I help the homeless in Greenville, S.C. One hundred percent of donations go towards helping them.”

“The Downtown Batman” also has been an outspoken opponent of gun ownership that leads to gun violence.
