NEWBERRY, S.C. — The show 100 Years of Hank Williams: Jason Petty’s Hank & My Honky Tonk Heroes will perform a musical salute to — arguably — country music’s greatest icon at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Newberry Opera House, 1201 McKibben Street, here.
Regarding the show, a promotion stated, “In celebration of Hank Williams’ 100th birthday, acclaimed performer Jason Petty brings his award-winning tribute show....
“Petty first rose to national prominence portraying Hank in the musical ‘Lost Highway,’ earning an Obie Award for his authentic and moving performance.
“Now, he continues to honor Williams’ enduring influence through this powerful production filled with classics like ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart,’ ‘I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry’ and ‘Jambalaya.’ With stories gathered from Williams’ friends, family and fellow performers, Petty offers an intimate look at the man behind the music—capturing both the triumph and the tragedy of Hank’s legendary life. “
