CULLOWHEE ?? Western Carolina hit a school-record 14 three-pointers and defeated UNC Asheville 80-64 in men??s basketball at the Ramsey Center last Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (0-4) were led by senior forward Joseph Barber with 14
points, while junior forward Joey Harrell scored a season-high 12
points. Freshman Reid Augst added a season-high 10 points.
The Catamounts (5-5) went 14-of-26 from the three-point line for 54
percent. WCU was 10-of-19 in the first half to help get the Cats in
front 43-31 at halftime.
Asheville trailed 43-31 at the half, despite shooting 50 percent from the field (12-of-24).
In the second half, the Bulldogs tried to get back in the game as they
scored the first seven points of the half, cutting the lead to 43-38.
Barber led the run with five points.
But that was as close as Asheville would get. WCU quickly went on a 6-0
run to build the lead back to 52-40. The Catamounts sunk 12 more points
to clinch the win.
