From Staff Reports
MAULDIN, S.C. — The Mighty Kicks!, a Carolina beach music and soul band, will perform from 6:30 to 9 p.m. July 25 in the outdoor amphitheater, adjoining the Mauldin Cultural Center, 101 City Center Drive, here.
The show is part of the city’s annual Amp’d Up Fridays (formerly Beachin’ Fridays) concert series.
A promotion of the group stated, “One of the most sought-after bands in South Carolina. These guys combine great talent and music that will knock your socks off... Beach music, Motown, soul, party music...”
Another promotion stated, “The Mighty Kicks! began in 1986, when a group of friends from Orangeburg, S.C., started an ‘air band,’ the rage at the time, and proceeded to win contests across the region.
“They were all musicians, and eventually started a ‘real’ band, calling it the Kicks! The band began to earn name recognition throughout the Southeast, performing for large festivals and private events from Georgia to Washington, D.C.
“The Mighty Kicks! was placed on the U.S. Department of Defense’s roster of approved artists to perform for U.S. troops stationed all over the world, and had the honor of performing on aircraft carriers and military bases throughout Europe and Central America....”
Attendees are urged to bring lawnchairs and/or blankets. Admission is free.
