LOUISVILLE, Ky. ÇƒÓ Louisville hammered UNC Asheville 66-51 in menës basketball last Saturday night, handing the Bulldogs their fifth consecutive defeat.
Three freshmen for the Cardinals scored 11 points each, including Edgar Sosa, Jerry Smith and Earl Clark.
Leading UNCA (4-10) was Bryan Smithson with 16 points. Also chipping in was Joey Harrell, who grabbed seven rebounds.
Louisville (10-4) raced to a 22-6 lead, holding UNCA scoreless for a stretch of 6-1/2-minutes.
However, the Bulldogs staged a comeback to cut the deficit to 29-22 with 1:15 left in the first half.
Leading 31-22 at intermission, the Cardinals led by as much as 17 points twice in the second half.
Next, the Bulldogs will host Liberty at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. Monday in the Justice Center.
