Regarding the program, a promotion stated, “Step back in time with the timeless swing of Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra at the Newberry Opera House...

“The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is celebrated as one of the finest big bands in history, blending swinging rhythms with the ability to deliver beautifully sentimental ballads.

“Led by Tommy Dorsey, known as ‘The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing,’ the orchestra mastered the art of creating warm, lush moods for both dancing and listening.

“The band featured stellar arrangements by Paul Weston, Axel Stordahl and Sy Oliver, and showcased the talents of renowned vocalists like Jack Leonard and Frank Sinatra.
