JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. ÇƒÓ East Tennessee State raced to an early 22-4 lead and then held on for a 73-65 victory over UNC Asheville in nonconference menës basketball on Dec. 19.
Leading the Bulldogs (4-7) were Bryan Smithson, with 14 points and seven rebounds; and Vincent James, 11 points and six rebounds.
In his best game for UNCA, sophomore center Kenny George scored six points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked five shots.
Meanwhile, ETSU (7-5) finished with four Bucaneers in double figures, led by Courtney Pilgram with 17 points.
