Conservatives need to debunk Dems’ disinformation
Sunday, 23 June 2024 22:29

I recently received an email from James Carville, filled with misleading statements about Republicans.

It’s time we set the record straight.

Carville claims that Republicans are “taking away a woman’s right to choose,” “trying to cut health care,” “restricting the right to vote,” and “burying their heads in the sand on climate change.” These statements are not only inaccurate, but also designed to misinform and incite fear.

Republicans believe in protecting the rights of the unborn and advocate for affordable, market-based healthcare solutions that empower patients rather than expanding government control. Our commitment to secure and fair elections ensures that every legitimate vote counts, protecting the integrity of our democratic process.

On climate change, Republicans support innovative solutions that balance environmental protection with economic growth, such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund, investments in clean energy in states like Texas and Iowa, and advancements in carbon capture technology.

Conservatives must refute such misinformation and educate ourselves and our communities. Let’s stay informed and ready to defend our principles with facts and common sense.

Duncan’s bid for Buncombe’s chair? Sorely needed, exciting

Indeed, as a lifelong Buncombe County resident, I am excited about our upcoming Buncombe County Commission election.

We have an opportunity to support, vote for, and elect, an individual that brings common sense concepts to the table that are sorely needed in our time.

That person is Van Duncan, running for chair of the Buncombe County Commission. I have known Van for a number of years and found him to be a very capable, knowledgeable and dedicated public servant.

Many may remember him when he was the sheriff of Buncombe County for three terms — and did a superior job for our citizens and residents.

His dedication to quality of service, confines of budget and transparency of operation were exemplary.

And I have no doubt that he will bring those same attributes to his service as chair of the County Commission.

I would encourage anyone to attend one of the upcoming events for Van and meet and talk with him.

You will come away with the confidence that he is very deserving of your vote and support.
