Alexander Dane Weekes, 21, a UNC Asheville student from Lawrenceville, Ga., was arrested by UNCA campus police at 5:25 p.m. Nov. 20 on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on prior charges of resisting public officers.
Officer Shannon Green recognized Weekes after he observed him entering the Scott Hall dormitory.
Having been previously advised that Weekes had an outstanding warrant
for failure to appear in court on one count of resisting public
officers, officers John Huffstickler and Green approached Weekes and
advised him of the outstanding warrant.
Weekes was reportedly cooperative and respectful toward the police officers as they served the warrant.
After his arrest, Weekes was transported to the Buncombe County
Detention Facility, where he was realeased on a written promise to
appear in court.
