TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Vinyl Junkies band will rock the city’s annual Music in the Park series, performing music for listening and/or dancing from 7 to 9 p.m., May 18 in the outdoor amphitheater, Trailblazer Park, 125 Trailblazer Drive, here.

The group is billed as featuring “R&B/soul ... smooth jazz... funk...dance” music. 

Food and beverage trucks will be serving concert attendees on an adjoining parking lot.. 

Regarding the Vinyl Junkies, the band says on its Facebook page that, “with a music list that spans 10 decades, we tailor the music to fit the vibe of your audience. 

“Through inventive arrangements, danceable grooves and songs you have not heard other bands play... we play all your favorites — from Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 and Black-Eyed Peas to Chaka Khan, Santana and Stevie Wonder. 

“Our premium brass section can rock the house on huge band hits — like Chicago and Tower of Power.” 

Another promotion of the band states:

“Our talented and professional musicians come a variety of backgrounds and have opened, performed or recorded with major label and international artists, such as Lady A, Darius Rucker and Mothers Finest, as well as session work on film industry soundtracks, such as ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ ‘Men in Black’ and stage theatre across the U.S.”

Gates open at 6 p.m., with food and drink trucks available on premises. Attendees are urged to bring lawnchairs and/or blankets. Admission is free.
