WALHALLA, S.C. — Georgette Jones will perform a musical salute of her famous parents, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at Walhalla Performing Arts Center, 101 E. North Broad St., here.
“She is affectionately known as ‘country music’s first princess,’ and rightfully so, especially since both of her parents were music legends, Hall of Famers, and trailblazers in the country genre,†an event promotion stated. “Georgette Jones is the daughter of country music royalty, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, both of which were the ‘president’ and the ‘first lady’ of country music, respectively.
“She’s been singing on stage since she was three years old. At the age of 10, she recorded her first duet with her father, titled, ‘Daddy Come Home.’ After being a registered nurse for 17 years and raising her twin sons, she returned to music full time.
“She then recorded her second duet with her father, titled,’You and Me and Time.’ With six albums under her belt, Georgette has performed at the (Grand Ole) Opry, the Ryman (Auditorium) and has toured across the U.S. and internationally.â€
In addition to singing and songwriting, she is also an author. She co-wrote her biography, “The Three of Us,†which was about her life growing up with her famous parents.â€
