Because of a reporting error, the Daily Planet incorrectly reported the date and time for the Independence Day fireworks show at Lake Lure in its June 21-July 4 edition.
The Lake Lure fireworks show will be held on July 1 — and not on July 2, as the newspaper mis-reported.
More specifically, the Lake Lure Independence Day celebration, mostly centered at Lake Lure Beach, will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., concluding with "joyous fireworks at dusk."
Other event highlights include a disc jockey for dancing from 6:30 to 9 p.m., swimming in the lake (with a lifeguard on duty) and entertainment for children from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Attendees are urged to bring a blanket and/or sand chair and a swim float.
The admission fee with advance tickets is $19.95 for adults, $9.95 for children over 6 years old and free for children under 6. For advance tickets, call (828) 625.2525.
