GREER, S.C. —Freedom Fest will be celebrated from 6 to 10:30 p.m. June 24 in Greer City Park, 301 E. Poinsett St., here.
“Freedom Blast annually allows the Greer community and visitors from across the Upstate to celebrate freedom with the goal of honoring both active and veteran servicemen and servicewomen who have made freedom possible,†an event promotion stated.
“Freedom Blast was founded in 2009 by the City of Greer as a one-day festival to celebrate our freedom and the men and women who make it possible. From great live music to fantastic fireworks, it’s become a tradition for many families.â€
“Freedom Fest will feature opening ceremonies at 6 p.m., Team Fastrax Skydiving at 6:15 p.m., a military tribute at 6:30 p.m., a rib-eating contest at 7:15 p.m., music by the Ryan Abel & Friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Dr. Don Silvery at 8:35 p.m., capped at 9 p.m. with more music by the Ryan Abel and Friends, followed at 10 p.m. with fireworks.
Regarding the festival’s band, a promotion stated, “Join Ryan Abel & Friends as they celebrate the music that defined a generation! A 19- person band, accompanied by full strings and horn sections, will replicate the classic songs that came bounding out of Laurel Canyon and reverberated over the airways in the ‘60s and ‘70s — performing hits by The Eagles, The Monkees, James Taylor, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt and many more.â€
Other activities will include a “kids zone†from 6 to 10 p.m., including amusement rides. Also, a blood drive will be held from 6 to 10 p.m.
Admission is free.
