Time to put the squeeze on Bill Press column!
Wednesday, 07 June 2023 20:52

I thought the Daily Planet had finally gotten rid of Bill Press when his column was missing for  a few issues.

Wishful thinking. A few months back he wrote in one of his columns that five (5) police officers were killed in the 1/6 “Riot” in Washington D.C. There were no police officers killed on 1/6. He made it all up.

Every one of his columns are really well-written but they are always full of  insults based upon made-up facts. Press is writing this same type of garbage week after week. He caters to the uninformed.

Why do you allow his column in your paper?

May I suggest that you find a liberal columnist that writes with more honesty, as does Carl Mumpower for the conservative side. The public deserves honest commentary and opposing views.

I’ve voted both Democrat and Republican over the past 50-plus years.

Are there any sane local or national liberal  media choices these days? ... Almost all of them are either nuts, evil or have defective DNA.

‘Wonderful Yankee rule’ sure  has made its mark in Asheville

Things are definitely looking better for Asheville under wonderful Yankee rule.

Especially since taking down our naughty, racist monuments.

Now you have multiple drive-by arbitrations and wonderful representatives of the underprivileged conveniently located throughout downtown, just like up North.

Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!

Official ripped for failing to reply to queries;Moffitt wins praise

One of the things that struck me on June 2 at the Council of Independent Business Owners’ meeting — during the question-and-answer session, one man asked about hostility — and

Greg Lowe (president of HCA Healthcare’s North Carolina Division) said, “We take care of it....”

After the meeting, I walked over and asked Mr. Lowe exactly how Mission dealt with hostility, thinking his answer during the Q&A was vague.

Mr. Lowe answered that “we (HCA-owned Mission Healthcare) have a good relationship with the (Buncombe County) sheriff’s office,” which, I inferred, meant that the sheriff’s office will not be concerned with their handling of such a situation.

The question I want answered is… what kind of training do you (Mission) have to allow you to deal with this kind of (hostile) situation?

They (those who exhibit hostile behavior) have a right to equal protection, as you (Lowe) do.

My question to this hospital administrator also is... do your people have training to deal with some of these folks? Do they talk to them?

Also, how do they define someone who is hostile. If someone raise his hands while talking — is the first thing you do is subdue them?

Instead, regarding any hostile situations where the police are not present, the speaker simply said, “We take care of it.”

While I was trying to question Mr. Lowe after the CIBO meeting, an unidentified man apparently with Lowe, told me, “They didn’t come here to answer that kind of question.”

I told that man I was hoping to hear what kind of training you (Mission) have. A hostile situation? It could be waving your hands. How do they define that? I never got an answer.

There’s no accountability here (at Mission). And just who are “we?” It’s a vicious circle. Seems like the only place they (those with behavioral problems) can go is back to Mission.

I don’t think Mission is as great as some people say it is. I am a veteran and where I go is the VA hospital (Veterans Affairs Medical Center) on Tunnel Road. The first day I walked in with a heart attack, 10 veterans were standing there saluting me.

There is talk on the street. “Please don’t go to Mission Hospital. They’ll kill you over there.” That’s not just from “street folks” — also upper-income people.

In contrast to HCA-owned Mission Health, this man (State Sen. Tim Moffitt, R-Hendersonville) said at the previous CIBO meeting that “we’re creating generations of dependents.”

I was born and raised in this city (Asheville) and the greatest police chief I ran into in my life here was Will Annarino. If they had listened to this man, we wouldn’t have needed all of these beds at Mission.

Tim Moffitt is one of the best politicians I ever met in my life. I was running for mayor and he was running for City Council when I first met him. I was so impressed with him.

I would implore the Republican Party to send Donald Trump over to talk to Tim Moffitt about being his vice presidential running mate.

I’m more impressed with Tim Moffitt more than any politician I’ve ever met — other than Donald Trump. I implore Tim Moffitt — some day -— to run for president.
