NEWTON —  Actress-producer-singer Barbara Eden will perform in her show, “On the Magic Carpet: Barbara Eden,” at 7:30 p.m. March 31 at the Newton Performing Arts Center, 60 W. 6th St., here. 

An event promotion noted that the show will feature “a live appearance by everyone’s favorite Jeannie, TV icon Barbara Eden, in a special, brand-new theatrical event.” Eden is 91 years old.

 â€œFor the very first time, Barbara Eden, star of long-running and popular television series ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ (will be) interviewed live on stage.” The show ran from 1965 to 1970.

“Let Barbara take you back into her magic bottle, recalling her fabulous start-studded career,”  the promotion concluded.

Regarding Eden’s career, Wikipedia stated, “Her other notable roles include Roslyn Pierce opposite Elvis Presley in ‘Flaming Star‘ (1960), Lieutenant jg Cathy Connors in ‘Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea’ (1961), and a single widowed mother, Stella Johnson, in the film ‘Harper Valley PTA’ (1978). Due to the success of the film, Eden reprised her role as Stella Johnson in a two-season television series, ‘Harper Valley PTA.’”

Also notably, she is a descendant of Benjamin Franklin.

Doors will open for Eden’s show at 6:45 p.m.
