Dr. (Carl) Mumppower ends his opinion piece (headlined “Martin Luther King be damned?”) in your most recent edition (Jan.4-17 edition of the Daily Planet) with the words: 

“Start with his understanding that equality can never be given — it must be earned ... a lesson, in turn, that must be taught....”

I am a bit confused, are Dr. Mumpower and I living in the same country — or reality? 

Equality was earned. It was fought for many times — Revolutionary War, Civil War, civil rights movement, and even — dare I say it — BLM.

We live in the United States of America, where in 1776 we declared: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” 

Perhaps Dr. Mumpower needs to visit the National Constitution Center’s exhibit “Civil War and Reconstruction: The Battle for Freedom and Equality” (that is) “the first in America devoted to exploring how constitutional clashes over slavery set the stage for the Civil War, and how the nation transformed the Constitution after the war to more fully embrace the Declaration of Independence’s promise of liberty and equality.” 

I realize that by still using an AOl.com email address, Dr. Mumpower tells much about who he is and that he is unable to move forward. 

“Intelligence plus character — that is the goal of a true education” — I am hopeful (that) one day, Dr. Mumpower will be truly educated himself, being a character is not the same as having character.

Why is Biden saying he ‘intends’ to visit U.S. Southern border?

I may frame this (recent ABC News report above) on my bedroom wall!! 

Intends… our president actually is quoted as saying now — after two years — that he “intends” to make a visit ... when? 

A drive-by on the way to an airport isn’t actually a real visit — like he did 15-plus years ago.. 

This is BIG news that our very own nation’s president — after two years — “ intends” to make a border visit!! 

Are they serving free ice cream?

Are they giving away free vacation tickets at the border for St. Croix?  (St. Croix is one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, in the Caribbean, where Biden and his family recently vacationed.)

Is POTUS Joe Biden actually going to meet (with) border patrol agents? 

Will President  Biden actually go into a single immigration facility that is a facility that hasn’t shuffled around all the overcrowded immigrants for a quick never-been-seen-before photo-op inside? 

Will he talk to folks there and take press questions and be actually fact-checked, as he isn’t usually unless it’s... “What the president meant to say!”

U.S. Dept. of Defense waging â€˜open war’ upon the South, reader says

It is no secret that the U.S. Department of Defense has declared open warfare upon the Southland of America, as they have chosen to carry out the policies of (the late and former U.S. Rep.) Thaddeus Stephens “...to make the South pay for making a stand for our homeland because we took the legal option put before us in the United States Constitution under the 10th Amendment.” 

Choosing not to accept (then-U.S. President Abraham) Lincoln’s proposition to ratify the Corwin Amendment, accepting slavery as a forever institution because it was inhumane and that slavery was not the primary reasons for secession. 

And not to forget the NAACP — hard up for funds and needing an issue that would generate them —  chose to attack the Confederate battle flag flying over the Capitol Dome in Columbia, S.C., all the while screaming slavery and began beating up on the only people who ever cared about their being — “The Southern white people.” Never to remember how they had been duped into the same kind of situation in the 12-year period of Reconstruction. 

And then came the first lie; the flag had been placed over the capitol in 1961 because of the 1961 Civil Rights Act and movement. When in fact, the flag had been placed over capitols all over the South because it marked the 100-year anniversary of the War for Southern Independence.

However, a compromise was reached and the flag came down and was placed on the Confederate soldiers cenotaph amid promises from the state legislature that this is where it belongs and shall never be moved again! 

Then came the Dylann Roof massacre (June 17, 2015 in Charleston S.C.) at a predominantly black church. 

It set the stage for Nikki Haley to get even for the time when she was a child being told that the eligibility to be in the beauty pageant was that you had to be either black or white; being neither, she was not allowed to participate. 

She never forgot, and when the Northern media came with their photo shopped pictures of Dylann Roof holding the Southern Cross in hand, she readily accepted the second lie that somehow the Southern Cross played a major role in the insane moment of Roof’s horrendous crime. 

To hell with the compromise — the flag had to be removed from its place of honor on the Confederate soldiers’ cenotaph. This action by Haley would be the catalyst that the evil minions who hated our homeland and heritage needed. Thus the attacks began with a new pack of lies. 

Destroying and taking down our historic cenotaphs, renaming of schools, roads, bridges — and any and all that bore the names of our Confederate heroines and heroes. 

And lo and behold, the United States Congress giving the charge to a mad damn yankee known for lying senator (Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.)to head up a renaming committee to do something that their peers had rightfully refused to do since 1930 — “change the names of military forts in the South that bear the names of former Confederate veterans because this action would surely end the hour of reconciliation that the Honorable General Robert E. Lee had worked so hard to forge after the (Civil) war.”

It is ironic that this same woman — who now leads this unholy and evil charge — once proclaimed to be an American Indian, when it is a historical fact that the civilized tribes of American Indians chose to ally with the Southern Confederacy, proclaiming they did so because not only was the South also their home, but also that the Federal government of the North could not be trusted.

And now we full understand just who Warren truly is —  she stood on the floor of Congress and lied that the South was trying to destroy the United States government, having full knowledge that Lincoln had rebuked and refused to meet with the Peace Delegation sent by the Honorable (Confedrate) President Jefferson Davis. 

And to add to her lies, she so named the Confederate armed forces as traitors. 

She, her Naming Committee, the United States Department of Defense, and the United States Congress now are using her justification to carry out their acts against the Honorable General Robert E. Lee, his men, and the people of the South in a bill of attainder that allowed the government to punish a party for a perceived crime without first going through the trial process. 

In the United States, bills of attainder are unconstitutional, as stated in Article 1, Section 9... and Article 1 Section 10... of the United States Constitution.
