Elton John tribute show set for blast off

WALHALLA, S.C. —  The Elton John tribute show, “Elton Live — The Elton John Experience,” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at Walhalla Performing Arts Center, 101 E. North Broad St., here.

Regarding the show, a promotion stated, “They sound like Elton. They perform like Elton. They will rock you like Elton. ‘Elton Live!’

“This is the premier musical tribute band to Elton John — and stars singer and performer Steven Dodd. The ensemble band captures the energetic sound and vibe for an authentic Elton John experience. The show also features La’Tanya ‘Sugarlips’ Shields, who toured with Elton John for many years.”

As for the impact of Elton John’s music, the website www.biography.com stated, “Elton John’s unique blend of pop and rock styles turned him into one of the 20th century’s biggest music icons. He was musically gifted from a young age, and released his first self-titled American album in 1970, making him a huge international star.”
