WINGATE ÇƒÓ Wingate University rolled over injury-riddled Mars Hill College 37-14 in football last Saturday in front of 21,742 fans.
While the Bulldogs amassed 502 yards, the Lions ÇƒÓ in their final game of the seasonÇƒÓ registered only 271 yards of offense.
Wingate (8-3, 5-2) scored one touchdown in the first quarter, three field goals and a touchdown in the second quarter and added a touchdown in each of the final quarters.
Trailing 37-0, MHC (4-7, 1-6) scored two touchdowns late in the game. The first was a 5-yard scoring pass from quarterback Ricky Spradling to Chappell Rose that capped a 67-yard drive with 7:22 left. Later, Nathan Medlin scored on an eight-yard run with 1:54 left.
Spradling finished 14-for-30 for 162 yards, including a touchdown and two interceptions. Meanwhile, MHCës Trandon Denny ran 15 times for 60 yards. He also caught five passes for 38 yards.
