From Staff Reports

HENDERSONVILLE —  In “an impromptu  moment,” Ed Skrivanek, a Hendersonville amateur competition dancer, said he was invited by the classic rock band Deano & The Dreamers to join it on stage to sing a song of his choice during the Memories Dinner & Dance in April at the Hendersonville Country Club.

Skrivanek chose for his first solo singing experience on a stage to sing Ricky Nelson’s 1961 No. 1 hit “Travelin’ Man,” drawing raves from those who heard him sing.

“My friends and I had a blast dancing to Deano & The Dreamers,” he wrote  later. “I was honored to be invited to come up and sing a song with them. I’m looking forward to going to this event again to dance to Deano & The Dreamers” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. June 24 at the HCC.

The Memories’ dances are open to all, but are couples-only and reservations are required. Full details are listed in the Calendar of Events on Page B2
