From Staff Reports
Following a court-led Feb. 23 redrawing of the state’s congressional districts, making the 10th District “less hospitable†for U.S. Rep. Madison, Cawthorn, R-Hendersonville, to run in, “some political experts have said that might lead him to return to WNC’s 11th District, where the 26-year-old is serving his first term,†the Asheville Citizen Times reported on Feb. 26.
Meanwhile, The Associated Press reported on Feb. 27 (in a story appearing in the ACT) that Cawthorn has until March 1 to withdraw as a 13th District candidate — and until midday March 4 to file for another seat.
The Daily Planet contacted Cawthorn’s office on Feb. 25, seeking comment about his electoral plans, but did not hear back from anyone by the newspaper’s mid-morning Feb. 28 deadline.
