One of my favorite recent MSNBC moments was when one of their relentlessly naïve commentators took exception to the failed “Build Back Better” boondoggle. 

Their assertion that “Americans don’t care how much BBB costs,” should become the mantra for a political movement that clearly doesn’t care about getting things right.

In what faction do we find affirmation that a $28 trillion national deficit doesn’t matter? 

Or that another $50 trillion-plus in unfunded promises and entitlements doesn’t matter? 

Or that adding trillions more to that overwhelming deficit doesn’t matter? 

That kind of broken thinking is easily located in the minds of liberal-progressive-socialists who prioritize power, prestige and pretense over getting things right.

For those needing more examples of left-leaning wrong-headedness, here are a few more steps on their long trail of political tears.

Liberals have funded our border collapse

Don’t look now, but cool green Asheville likes to get high — and high-octane craft beer is the most innocent of their go-to resources.

Most of the illegal drugs consumed by Americans come from or travel through Mexico. That means all those murders and other crimes committed by south-of-the-border drug cartels are funded by us.

What we have done to Mexico is invasion by another form. Take away that money, and Mexico has a chance to right itself and stabilize a culture that has a long history of underlying beauty and grace. Keep it up and their unleashed demons will continue to burn everything down.

Why pick on liberals, you ask? 

Because it is the left that enables and endorses our drug culture. That’s true in Asheville and it is true across America. The left has created the terror that motivates those fleeing the criminal hells of drug cartels.

21st century liberal peaceful protestors don’t exist

One of the great myths perpetuated in this community and throughout the country is that of peaceful protests. There is no such thing, at least when it involves the left.

Blocking traffic, threatening people, pepper spray, graffiti, property destruction, and — last but not least — violence, are not acts of peace. All of these things happened here and elsewhere and were reliably cheered by local elected officials and left-leaning media outlets.

Watching both contort themselves pretending those things were peaceful is like watching an unscrupulous used car salesman pretend that loud knock in the motor will smooth out after the break-in period.

For confirmation on the above one need only visualize mixing in a few passive counter-protestors into any left-wing demonstration. Peace will be the last thing they experience.

The left no longer practices peace — in our streets, in Congress, in debates, in letters to the editor or anywhere else. When you build a movement on anger, entitlement, power victimization and propaganda, peace dies.

The incremental desecration of our stabilizing institutions

Remember when the YWCA stood for Young Woman’s Christian Association? Or the YMCA meant Young Man’s Christian Association? Or Mars Hill College, Warren Wilson, Brevard College and most of our other universities were Christian organizations?

Remember when most churches attempted biblical sincerity versus doled-out spiritual comfort food hidden behind a robe of pious pretense?

Remember when the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts taught values, skills and unity and celebrated the difference in the genders as surely as they built on the differences?

If you think BLM, Antifa, and the liberal-progressive-socialist movement are going to healthily replace those organizations, think again. 

Better thinking is found in the phrase, “You shall know them by their deeds.”

What the left builds are houses of cards that seduce the unwitting and then collapse on them.

Brilliant college students need working folks to pick up their tab

Our nation’s government, institutions of higher learning, and a large percentage of the educated elite have been running a scam for decades that is finally beginning to collapse.

The ruse goes something like this: 

(1) Our universities run rarified and remarkably expensive liberal propaganda sanctuaries that pretend to offer a liberal arts education 

(2) Our government pretends that by guaranteeing student loans to fund these institutions of higher fleecing, that students will be supported in reaching their higher potentials and

(3) Students with the “fly now/pay later” mentality of the liberal-progressive-socialist movement, take on exorbitant debt loads for degrees that cannot remotely be expected to generate salaries to match that debt load.

Student loan cancelation is today’s equivalent to the “Let them eat cake” utterances of the Paris elite of another era. Those folks got their heads chopped off. 

You and I should be satisfied with a simple “hell, no” — and let all these supposedly super-smart people figure out how to fix and pay for their own mess.
