The Candid Conservative: Pushing our not-so-good buttons?
Thursday, 16 December 2021 11:41
“Conservatism is not the problem. Conservatism is the founding of this country, essentially. Conservatism isn’t even really an ideology. Conservatism is just what is right, proper, decent and moral. That’s all it is.”
— Rush Limbaugh

We live in a time where control is confused for conviction, childishness for cleverness, chatter for character and carelessness for courage.

Reliably, much of that confusion comes out of the left and their contracted marketing agents, the Democratic Party. Democrats aren’t all bad people, but if you support or ignore something that is bad, isn’t that pretty not-so-good?

Right now, right-minded people are scratching their heads about how fast our culture is drifting off into a leftist nightmare.

Consider recent news items: Nordstrom department store hit by group of eighty shoplifters; daytime oral sex in front of Tunnel Road Best Buy; president of the United States steps in with “white supremacist” accusation during Rittenhouse case; gasoline hits six-dollars in California; Russia is going to attack the Ukraine in January; Asheville police department struggling with a 35 percent loss of officers; price of steel has doubled, thanks to climate accords, and Asheville’s daily paper said something positive about an authentically conservative politician.

Whoops — that last one was a fantasy.

Part of this fast-track to self-destruction can be traced to button-pushers. Though you can’t see them in the mirror, your head is covered with buttons. There are good ones like your maturity, courage, character and truth buttons, and not-so-good ones, like your anger, bias, greed, hate, power and “it’s really none of my business” buttons.

If you’re a conservative, you already understand which buttons you should be pushing. If you’re a 21st century Democrat, you might find that determination a struggle.

I’m here to help.

The Rittenhouse case

Where the heck were this young man’s adult influencers when he needed them most? What folly it was to roll him into an out-of-control, angry, ultra-violent mob posing as peaceful protestors in a city that had surrendered enforcement of the law.

In the end, it was three adults variously struggling with mental health issues, drug addiction and criminal backgrounds that got the worse end of that encounter. But nobody won, because a whole lot of people forgot to mash their maturity button and double tapped their anger button.

President Brandon added insult to that injury by pushing his “it’s really none of my business button.” That’s why we have a judicial branch of government, Mr. President. Your job is with the executive branch. You guys on the left have a really hard time staying in your lane.

Speaking of presidents

By now, is there anyone in America who does not recognize we have elected a man to the White House suffering various forms of cognitive decline?

What’s worse is that the leadership of Democratic Party knew this and chose to shove him through anyway. What kind of people would intentionally do that?

That would be someone who’s pushed their power and greed buttons so many times that their off-switch is broken. Those same people have ignored their truth and character buttons so long that both are rusted shut.

 COVID-19 control freaks

It’s not new news that a large percentage of folks in Europe and America have serious issues with forced vaccination and the antagonism and loss of freedom faced by those thus inclined.

For a view into vaccine mandate hypocrisy, let’s take a quick trip back in history.

Remember the beginnings of the HIV epidemic? Although 90-plus percent of the cases could be tracked to unprotected intercourse between males, there was an immediate call to avoid judging those so inclined or attaching any accountability for ultra-high treatment costs and disability claims to personal lifestyle choices.

Same-same for today’s growing crop of drug addicts. Anyone daring to suggest that their personal choices are a big part of the problem is immediately branded a hater.

To date we have intercepted 70 million new lives in America per the impact of Roe vs. Wade. At a time where birth control methods are diverse and remarkably effective, we still get to make the choice to end a measurable existence – think heartbeat, human features and bonding to the mother – without meaningful pause.

Anxious about the COVID jab and chose not to take it? Well, suddenly our society’s “choice” rules no longer apply. Too bad there’s no vaccine for judgment, malice and condemnation button-pushers.

Who’s in charge of your buttons?

Though we look back longingly, the fact is the world has always been a not-so-good place in which to live. Those attempting goodness have always been in a minority and always will be.

If you’re interested in being on the right side of our current rush to societal self-destruction, make sure you know your own buttons and work hard to push the right ones. While you’re at it, make double-sure that you understand and resist those who find life purpose in pushing the not-so-good buttons in themselves and others.

We’d all be a whole lot better off if more people – this is a hint President Brandon – would just button up....
